Open Portrait Studio
The Somerset Art Association is pleased to offer weekly sessions for artists who are interested in painting from either a clothed (Open Portrait) or nude (Open Life) model. These "pay-as-you-go" drop-in sessions are without instruction offering artists the opportunity to paint and/or sketch independently.
Open Life Studio
Tuesday evenings, 7:00 - 9:30 pm*
Artists have the opportunity to draw or paint from a different life model each week through a combination of quick gestural poses and longer sittings. No instruction. The fee of $10 for members and $15 for non-members is paid directly to the Studio Monitor. Advanced registration is not required. Students must be at least 18 years old or have the permission of a legal guardian to participate.
Open Portrait Studio
Wednesday mornings, 10:00 am - 12:30 pm*
Artists are offered the opportunity to draw or paint from a clothed model sitting for three consecutive weeks in the same pose. All media is welcomed (odorless turpentine only!). No instruction. The fee of $10 for members and $15 for non-members is paid directly to the SAA’s Office Manager. Advanced registration is not required.
*NOTE: Open Life and Open Portrait are not held in the summer months of July and August and during inter-session breaks. Please call the SAA office for the current schedule. (908) 234-2345.
