The Somerset Art Association is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to furthering the awareness and understanding of and participation in the visual arts by providing opportunities for artistic creations and art appreciation in a welcoming environment.

For achievements in the field of arts education, the Somerset Art Association has been honored with the following awards and recognitions:

Award for Excellence in Arts Programming
Presented by the Somerset County Cultural Heritage Commission for innovative, educational and inspiring programming for the arts in Somerset County, 2006.

Award of Excellence for Art Education Advocacy
Presented by the Art Educators of New Jersey for excellence in art education advocacy through special materials and community site promotion of Youth Art Month, 2004-2005.

Governor’s Award for Art Education
Presented to SAA’s Executive Director by the New Jersey Department of Education and the Alliance for Arts Education/New Jersey for extraordinary support of visual arts education, particularly with regards to children’s programming, 2004.

John Pappas Recognition Award
Presented to SAA’s Executive Director by the Arts Educators of New Jersey for outstanding efforts in the field of visual arts education, 2003.
